TWELFTH STREET CHRISTIAN CHURCH
"FOUR-PHASE VISION" 2009
Vision 2009 is a blessing given to the Pastor of Twelfth Street Christian
Church at the right time as the church wades through transformation. Vision
2009 offers new vitality and growth, and improved image, increased visibility
and renewed community service. Each phase of Vision 2009 will stand as a
pillar, sustaining the four corners divine, as this house of faithful believers
celebrates 95 years of gospel service.
After many days of prayer God has ministered to our Pastor and gave him a
four-phase vision, Vision 2009. We remain faithful to our past and the vision
of our founders. However, we understand that we must respond to the call to
evolve into the reality of our future and toward a new era in the history of
our ministry and our community.
VISION 1.
We are a church that reflects our community. We will continue to open our
church and specifically, the Daniels Fellowship Hall to host social events such
as luncheons, receptions and meeting space for community groups and civic
events, etc. Many organizations enjoy our location and find it perfect to host
their events.
VISION 2.
We are seeking to attract new members who can grasp our vision,
clearly. We continue to offer new activities generating new strength and
vitality in our church. Our vision reaches beyond the roads we have
traveled in the past and seeks to embrace new traditions to unite the people
of God. Today, our church is discovering new ways to offer ministry and
worship services that are relative to the contemporary needs of people.
We will work diligently to develop programs and activities that revolve
around new and contemporary issues andconcepts that can stimulate
growth and increase faith..
VISION 3.
We will increase our visibility with our new technology plan to video weekly
worship services linked to our website and ultimately, pod cast.
VISION 4.
We will continue to develop more outreach partnerships and ministries that
will be recognized for their contribution to our community. Presently, we
have standing partnerships with Thurgood Marshall Center Trust, Columbia
Heights Youth and Family Support Collaborative, Change Works, My Mother's
House, The Green Team, and Kidsave, Inc, Additionally, we are excited about
the development of our community Pastoral Care Unit as we introduce 12th
Street Counseling and Referral Service For Transitioning Adults in the Spring
of 2009. Finally, Vision 2009 is overflowing with hope and desire. Our
commitment remains true to our vision. When St. Paul was questioned
before King Agrippa, he affirmed his vision and his faith:
"So then, King Agrippa, I was not disobedient to the vision from heaven."
(Acts 26:19)
