From the
Pastor's Pen
Rev.
Dr. Paul H. Saddler
Today, we
give God the Glory for his wisdom and guidance. God never fails to lead us into the paths
of righteousness as his love
encourages and sustains us toward his eternal promise .His faith is everlasting.
In the fall of 2007, the Lord blessed
Twelfth Street Christian Church with the four phases of “Vision Divine." This powerful vision was given by the Spirit of the Lord. Vision Divine is a call for renewed vitality and growth, a new and improved
image, wider and increased visibility in our immediate community and a renewed and revised ministry of community service. When we look back over the last four years,
we count it as joy as we testify of the miraculous changes and growth
we now celebrate. Our obedience to
God's vision remains the key to our
success. At times, our success
endured some skepticism and doubt, however, the results of Vision Divine speaks for itself, absolute!. Our obedience has been tried, tested, and proven to be the key to our survival and ultimately, our success. There is no limit to what God can do when we act within his will.
Beloved, to add to
our good news, we welcome back in
circulation, THE CHALICE, the authorized newsletter of TWELFTH STREET
CHRISTIAN CHURCH. We give God the
glory for His eternal message of truth and the rewards he gives to those
who put their faith and trust in his blessed word. The Psalmist says, "The Lord is
faithful to all His promises and loving toward all he has made." (Psalm
145:13b) God gave our founders
a vision some 96 years ago. Today,
we build on that divine promise. God does not change and certainly, he will
remain faithful and will never forget us. The same love and guidance he shared with those who strove and persevere before us, still endures today. Thank God
for “VISION DIVINE."

A Reward
for Diligence
On January 28, 2010, Twelfth
Street Christian Church presented rewards to students at William Lloyd
Garrison Elementary School who
excelled academically by increasing their grades and proficiency standards
in math and reading. Each student received a $5 gift for their success. Pastor Saddler spoke to approximately 100 students and praised
them for their worthy efforts as "today's scholars." Presiding Elder Vandy Miller stressed the
importance of remaining focused on academics as the key to their future
success. The awards were provided by
the generosity of Twelfth Street
Christian Church and Pastor Saddler presented awards individually as Elder Miller, Deacon Sylvia Miller and
Elder Lucy Ward congratulated each student. Principal Rembert Seaward shared his deepest gratitude to Twelfth
Street Christian Church for having such committed interest in Garrison
students. Congratulations Twelfth
Street for answering the call to service at Garrison Elementary
School!

Ways and
Means by
Jarrod Johnson
The Ways and Means committee would like to thank our
church family for stepping up to the plate when asked to go above and
beyond. We look forward to sponsoring more events such as the New Years Eve
Black Tie Extravaganza. A wonderful
time was had by all that attended. If you have not had the chance, please stop by the bulletin board
downstairs and view the pictures that are posted. If you have any suggestions,
the committee is always willing to listen with an open ear. Jarrod Johnson, Editor |
